End of the CSA Season

As the 2019 CSA season comes to a close, the farmers and crew are approaching the time where the outer work of the farm slows down and there is more space and opportunity for inner work. We are entering the season when we reflect on the finances of the farm, comb over crop analysis and make decisions about the next growing season. It's also a time when farmers and crew have the chance to re-engage their hobbies and passions that have otherwise laid dormant for much of the growing season. Andy hopes to take the sail boat to Watauga lake some this winter and Holly is excited to pick up her knitting needles again for some cozy nights by the wood stove.

We are also looking forward to developments in the works for the 2020 season. With the addition of a new high tunnel, the farm will be able to grow more greens in the winter and early spring! We're also excited to continue to refine our compost and biochar skills in order to further improve the biology and tilth of the soil on the farm. Additionally, as we continue to explore ways that the farm can better serve the community and our CSA members, we'll be trying the CSA software, Harvie, which will allow CSA members to customize CSA shares as well as add additional items to their box. Stay tuned in early January for more on the subject of Harvie.

One thing that remains constant from season to season is that we recognized farming is a practice, to be perfected over a lifetime. As farmers, we have been gifted the opportunity to be in relationship with the farm and each other in order to learn and grow, both inwardly and outwardly. The 2019 season did not fall short in providing plenty of chances for just that! Thanks to all of you, our CSA members, for joining us on this journey.
